NRB Leaders, Vice President Pence to Join Thousands at March for Life in D.C.

March for Life 2017 logoTens of thousands, including NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson and several other members of the NRB staff, are gathering in the nation’s capital to rally in celebration of the sanctity of life. Together we will march down from the National Mall to the Capitol and the Supreme Court to urge respect for human life and the end of abortion in America.

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court issued its infamous Roe v. Wade decision that asserted a right to privacy in the Constitution that extended to abortion. Every year thereafter, masses of pro-life marchers have come to Washington to protest that ruling and to promote a culture that properly values prenatal life.

This year, the March for Life, which NRB is co-sponsoring, will feature an appearance by Vice President Mike Pence. Already, senior White House official Kellyanne Conway made history by being the first such top presidential aide ever scheduled to speak at the rally. Vice President Pence’s decision to come marks another potent first in the 44-year history of the march.

From Congress, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah), and Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) will address those assembled. Also, other speakers include Cardinal Timothy Dolan, former Planned Parenthood Director Abby Johnson, Mexican Telenovela star Karyme Lozano, Church of God in Christ Bishop Vincent Matthews, author and radio host Eric Metaxas, and Benjamin Watson of the Baltimore Ravens.

“I’m delighted to welcome a remarkable line-up of rally speakers for what will truly be a historic 44th annual March for Life,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life, in a statement. “Each of our speakers exemplifies this year’s theme, ‘the power of one’, in a beautiful way. Their words are sure to motivate the marchers, as well as the millions of pro-life Americans who will be watching, who dedicate themselves to restoring a culture of life in the United States.”

The March for Life begins near the Washington Monument and ends in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Even if you cannot be physically present but would like to add your voice to this day, pro-lifers will be gathering on social media through the hashtag #WhyWeMarch. Also, the rally will be streamed live starting just before noon on the March for Life’s Facebook page.
