IRS Apologizes in Targeting Case Settlement

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week announced a prospective settlement for a pair of lawsuits a number of conservative groups had pending against the IRS related to the targeting scandal that surfaced in 2013. In the settlement, the IRS admitted its wrongdoing and apologized.

In his announcement, Sessions said, “There is no excuse for this conduct. Hundreds of organizations were affected by these actions, and they deserve an apology from the IRS.  We hope that today's settlement makes clear that this abuse of power will not be tolerated."
