The FCC Consumer Advisory Committee will meet in June to consider recommendations to the Commission on a number of topics, including several of interest to broadcasters. The Committee’s Media Working Group will offer suggestions related to political advertising, spectrum, the Emergency Alert System, and privacy.
Established in 2000, the Consumer Advisory Committee is intended to facilitate the participation of consumers in FCC proceedings and to provide recommendations regarding consumer issues within the jurisdiction of the Commission. This committee is currently chaired by Debra Berlyn of the National Consumers League.
This next daylong committee meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on June 15 at the FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C. A live webcast will also be available at www.fcc.gov/live/. Questions from the public may be submitted online or in advance by mail.
