Dr. Frank Wright Honored for Religious Freedom Leadership

Esther Levens and Dr. Frank WrightThe Unity Coalition for Israel (UCI) presented Dr. Frank Wright, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), with the Champion of Religious Freedom Award for “courageous leadership in protecting religious freedom world-wide – for such a time as this.”

The award was presented to Dr. Wright during UCI’s press conference at NRB’s recent Nashville convention. Notable figures from the broadcasting and communications industry were on hand as Dr. Wright was honored for his bold defense of religious liberty both at home and abroad. Recently NRB, through its Board of Directors, re-affirmed its commitment to international religious liberty by approving a Resolution on the International Persecution of Christians, calling on the US Government to strengthen its position globally and to promote the spread of First Amendment freedoms around the world.

During the presentation of the award, Esther Levens, Founder & CEO of UCI, said of Dr. Wright:

Members of the press and guests at UCI press conference. As leader of the NRB, you provide a powerful source of information on the national and international scenes. Gathering and disseminating important testimony for Congress and representing voices of the persecuted and oppressed Christians, revealing their plight by speaking out in their behalf is central to your mission. By following the intricacies of legislation and giving expert testimony, as well as writing NRB letters of documentation you impact the lives of Christians around the world. You coordinate all branches of the Christian media in this collaborative effort and in this way you single-handedly influence the well-being of the Christian community world-wide. The world scene is your challenge.

UCI is a pro-Israel grassroots coalition of Christian and Jewish organizations, representing more than 40 million Americans in the media and on Capitol Hill. For over 20 years, Esther Levens has served as CEO by educating secular and religious media, college campuses, the Presidential Cabinet, and Congress about issues surrounding Israel and the Middle East. Levens was appointed by Presidents George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon to serve on three Presidential Advisory Councils, and she has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for several organizations, including Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs and American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
