Around 90 Christian media and ministry leaders from across the nation - and some from other parts of the world - gathered in the Washington, DC-metro area last week for the spring 2015 NRB Advisory Council & Standing Committee Meetings.
There, members of the NRB Advisory Councils and NRB Standing Committees planned for the 2016 NRB International Christian Media Convention, which will be held February 23-26, 2016, in Nashville, TN.
“We are so grateful to all of those who dedicated their time and treasure to come to DC to begin the planning of the 2016 Convention,” remarked NRB Director of Membership Melissa Sturgis. “Because of their dedication and innovation, the 2016 Convention is certain to be the best ever, serving the needs of the Christian communications community and honoring God.”
Last week's meeting commenced Thursday evening with a welcome reception, during which NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson laid out the preliminary convention schedule and set the tone for the meetings.
"Our committees have one charge: Find the best people in the world to speak at NRB," Dr. Johnson exclaimed. "We want the best leaders, the best preachers, the best innovators, and the best broadcasters to present the strongest program possible at the 2016 NRB International Christian Media Convention."
The next day, the Advisory Councils and Standing Committees broke out into their respective areas - Church Media, Film, Intercollegiate (iNRB), International, Internet, Radio, and Television. Throughout the day, the councils and committees discussed various convention program elements, including the networking events, schedule, speakers, and sponsors. They also made specific plans and assignments for the upcoming Convention and for the Annual Media Awards program.
"The way things are looking, we are going to have one of the best conventions and radio tracks that I can remember," remarked NRB Radio Standing Committee Member Mike Shelley, who has attended the annual NRB Convention since 1989.
"We anticipate another wonderful NRB Convention," added Sandra Swann, Director of Marketing for WFAX, who joined last week's meetings as a member of the NRB Radio Advisory Council.
NRB Advisory Councils are open to all Christian media professionals and ministry personnel. NRB Standing Committees consist of elected NRB members who dedicate themselves to advancing the overall mission of NRB and to serving the unique interests of specific constituencies within the NRB family.
