Chosen People Ministries recently announced the opening of the Charles Feinberg Messianic Center in the heart of the Midwood section of Brooklyn.
The 14,000 square foot facility will house the Charles Feinberg Messianic Jewish Studies program – a fully accredited Master of Divinity degree in Messianic Jewish Studies offered by the Talbot School of Theology. The degree is the first of its kind offered in the United States and is co-sponsored by Talbot and Chosen People Ministries.
The Feinberg Messianic Center will also host two Messianic Jewish congregations – one Russian and the other English-speaking, as well as the many other outreach activities of Chosen People Ministries in Brooklyn.
“There is simply no place like Brooklyn,” commented Chosen People Ministries President and Brooklyn native Dr. Mitch Glaser. “It is still the heart and soul of the worldwide Jewish community! Brooklyn has more than 750,000 Jewish people – including the largest concentration of Russian Jewish immigrants and Orthodox/Hasidic Jews in America. There are also thousands of Israelis living in Brooklyn at any given moment. It is natural for Chosen People Ministries to focus staffing and resources in Brooklyn.”
The center officially opened after Labor Day and will hold services Saturday morning in English and Russian in the afternoon. Services will also be offered during the High Holidays beginning with the first evening of the New Year (Rosh Hashanah), Wednesday, September 24.
Currently, Chosen People Ministries serves in 16 countries and more than a dozen cities in North America. Throughout recent decades, Chosen People Ministries has focused more on direct outreach, congregational planting, and the ongoing work of their benevolence ministries as needed – especially in Israel and Brooklyn. The ministry was founded in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn in 1894.
