In January 1984, as part of his new Son Broadcasting Network, Belarmino “Blackie” Gonzalez launched KCHF TV-11 out of Santa Fe, New Mexico, as the first full-power VHF Christian television station in the United States and the first Christian station in New Mexico.

After the passing of Blackie Gonzalez in 2008, President and CEO Annette Garcia and her dedicated family and staff continue to keep the vision and mission alive.  The mission of Son is to encourage people throughout New Mexico’s communities to love the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with their whole heart, soul, and might by bringing them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through excellence in Christian media.

The station has continued to air Christian programming locally and internationally via cable and satellite, with a reputation for excellence that garnered it the Station of the Year Award in both 2008 and 2000 by National Religious Broadcasters and the William Ward Ayer Distinguished Service Award in 2010 in honor of Blackie Gonzalez.

A ministry of excellence for 27 years in Christian television, KCHF TV has expanded to cover more than 97% of New Mexico. Programming includes local, national, and international Christian ministries, as well as originally produced programs.

The flagship program, God Answers Prayer, which first started almost 40 years ago on its own AM 730 KDAZ Radio, continues to bring stories and testimonies of a miraculous working God who truly answers prayer in the lives of His people.  In recognizing the need to minister in Spirit, Soul and Body, the program A Healthier You, which began in the late 80’s, continues to educate viewers to care, and take charge of their health.

SBN continues to pray for and support Israel and has finished the first year of producing Focus on Israel, a fresh new program bringing relevant and current information on issues and topics that shape and influence Judeo-Christian values, bridging the gap between the Christian and Jewish communities.

As the organization continues to serve the Lord through Son Broadcasting it remains a strong independent station that is here to serve the local communities throughout New Mexico and extend a hand to encourage, equip, and serve the Christian community in shining the light of Jesus to the world.
