For the past 44 years, Heralds of Hope, Inc. has been presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ using electronic media and print with a special emphasis on the systematic teaching of God’s Word.
A primary goal of the international Gospel radio and literature ministry is to encourage deeper commitment to the Bible as the inspired Word of God and a renewed dedication to holy living in light of Christ’s imminent return.
From its offices and studio located near Breezewood, PA, Heralds of Hope sends Gospel messages to radio stations in North America and around the world. The Bible teaching on the international program is a mix of archived teaching by the late Dr. J. Otis Yoder and newly recorded expositions by Radio Pastor J. Mark Horst.
Dr. Yoder and his wife, Isabelle, founded Heralds of Hope and were loved and appreciated by many members of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). Dr. Yoder, furthermore, served on the NRB Board (class of 1995). He went to be with the Lord in 2003 at the age of 88.
Initially headquartered near Lancaster, PA, Heralds of Hope aired its first radio broadcast on WDAC 94.5 FM on June 2, 1968. The focus of the half-hour broadcast, The Voice of Hope, is expository Bible teaching with a strong emphasis on spiritual growth and discipleship. The Voice of Hope currently airs on 48 stations in North America.
Letter responses to the ministry’s international English broadcasts have come from more than 180 countries around the world. In addition, its partnership with Trans World Radio (since 1974) enables broadcasts in numerous other languages: Amharic (Ethiopia), Guarani (Paraguay), Hausa (Nigeria), Hindi (India), Mandarin (China), Nepalese (Nepal), Oromo (Ethiopia), Spanish (Latin America), and Swahili (Kenya). Broadcasts in Albanian (Albania) and Turkish (Turkey) are facilitated through cooperation with indigenous ministries. Partnership with Pan American Broadcasting includes English programs and an Arabic language broadcast in Iraq.
In addition to the radio outreach, Heralds of Hope’s Bible distribution program provides a free, English language Bible to persons in other countries who cannot afford a Bible. Since 1975, more than 225,000 Bibles have been mailed to persons in 90 countries. In the past few years, partnership with indigenous ministries in India, Nepal, Nigeria, and Ghana has enabled Heralds of Hope to sponsor and staff Bible teaching conferences for pastors and lay members.
The current staff and board are continuing the founding vision of bringing hope to the hopeless and growth to the Body of Christ through the timeless, universal message of the Gospel. Leveraging the power of digital media in the proclamation of the Gospel has led them to partner with TWR in their new, LinguaDMS digital media asset management system.
From its humble beginnings more than 40 years ago, Heralds of Hope has seen the Lord prove Himself faithful beyond all expectations. The ministry remains fully devoted to teaching the Bible with clarity and accuracy for the glory of God and the blessing of His Church.
