The East Texas Community has supported their local contemporary Christian music radio station, 89.5 KVNE & 91.3 KGLY, for over 25 years.  “We have amazing listeners here in East Texas, and I couldn’t think of a better place to raise a family,” said Troy Kriechbaum, station President & CEO, praising listeners’ involvement.  “I am truly blessed to work with such a great team to point people to Jesus through Christian media.”

KVNE became the first Christian radio station in East Texas in October 1983 and immediately became an important part of the community, providing the presence of Christ on the airwaves. The station is staffed by 10 career Christian broadcasters who have more than 125 years of combined experience in radio.  And now through the combined efforts of its staff, KVNE has become the most-listened-to radio station in any format in that market for its target audience of 25-54.

The station has made a commitment to connect their listeners to their community by offering specific ministry opportunities.  To name just a few:

  • “Valentines for Kidz” in February provided thousands of listener-made Valentines distributed by their staff to 12 area hospitals. This provided a big lift to children in the hospital on Valentine’s Day away from friends and classmates!
  • Over 10,000 “Socks & Undies for Orphans” were collected in May.  A team of listeners and staff personally delivered these items to Guatemalan children through Orphan Outreach. The team also had the awesome responsibility of sharing God’s work with these Guatemalan kids.
  • The “Beat the Heat Fan Drive” co-sponsored with the Salvation Army in May collected fans to help the needy and elderly stay cool and featured a remote broadcast from the drop-off location.
  • “Bibles & Backpacks”-Mission Backpack program in July collected backpacks for East Texas & Guatemalan children in need.  Several local church children’s groups made hand-written notes of encouragement for the Bibles that were distributed in the backpacks.
  • Stay tuned for more…..

To thank their listeners, they hosted two free Listener Appreciation Parties at the Splash Kingdom Water Park in June.  In November they will honor area pastors and their wives with a very special evening of entertainment by the award-winning group Selah.

God has truly blessed this ministry and they look forward to seeing how this local radio station will be used for His GLORY!
