Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale serves the people of South Florida at six campuses from Boca Raton to the Florida Keys. Started by Senior Pastor Bob Coy in 1985, the church has grown to become one of the largest in the country, with about 20,000 regular attendees. It is one of many churches affiliated with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, led by Pastor Chuck Smith.
A growing media ministry makes it possible for Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to extend its message far beyond South Florida, to advance the church’s mission to make disciples “until the whole world hears.” All church services are streamed live online at www.calvaryftl.org. The church website also makes available an extensive media library of past services and other resources.
Active Word is the broadcast outreach of the church, producing weekly television and daily radio programs called The Active Word with Pastor Bob Coy. The television program has twice been honored by the National Religious Broadcasters as “Best Television Teaching Program” of the year. The creative team at the church has also produced two programs recognized as “Best Television Program Special” by the NRB.
Active Word produces a daily devotional (Living in the Active Word) available as a monthly magazine and a daily feature posted online at www.activeword.org. The radio and television programs, along with an audio version of the daily devotional, are available on the web site, and as free podcasts via iTunes.
Pastor Bob presents regular video blogs at www.activeword.org/blog. The book One Surrendered Life, available from the Active Word, tells Pastor Bob’s personal testimony of going from Las Vegas casino employee to pastor of one of America’s fastest growing churches.
Recently the media team introduced a new topically-themed website at www.zopical.com. This site uses creative and sometimes humorous video segments to encourage online discussion about important life issues, and to point people to biblical solutions.
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale also operates WREH (“ReachFM”), a 100,000-watt station in central Florida, and a network of more than 40 community stations. The station’s mix of Christian music and Bible teaching can be heard 24/7 at www.reachfm.org.
Through radio, television, and increasing use of web-based media, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale is finding creative ways to present the Gospel to a growing audience in Florida, throughout the U.S., and around the world.
