As a professional in the Christian communications industry, you know the importance and value of continuing to enhance your skills, grow your knowledge base and expand your professional network. Doing so can mean the difference between success and failure, excellence and mediocrity. Those who invest in their success through continued education, experience, networking and evaluation are those who are the most prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges ahead.
As Peter reminds us, to "prepare your minds for action" (1Peter 1:13 NIV), we must continually ready ourselves for service. Through education and networking we learn and we strengthen one another for service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Learning is an ongoing process and NRB has an array of opportunities to assist you in meeting your goals. These opportunities include:
• Annual Convention - The Annual NRB Convention and Exposition is the largest nationally and internationally recognized event dedicated solely to assisting those in the field of Christian communications. It is the best place to network with Christian communications leaders, to promote a program and to obtain serious industry training.
o Training - Industry professionals lead educational sessions and vital Boot Camps geared to the specific concerns faced by broadcasters in all media. Every convention offers crucial sessions on Public Policy and Leadership; a lineup of outstanding speakers, music and testimonies; and plenty of opportunities to hear from colleagues.
o Innovation Exchange - The Innovation Exchange produces lively discussion and innovative thinking. Small groups meet around a spectrum of topics related to some of the most pressing issues facing communicators and ministry leaders. Participants pose challenges and ask the group for ideas and resources, discuss timely issues and share success stories. It is a dynamic time of interaction and peer-to-peer resource exchange.
o Academic Innovation Exchange - The iNRB Academic Innovation Exchange (AIE) is a healthy dialogue about Christian academics. It is a great opportunity to network with your faculty colleagues. This session accepts research papers, case studies, classroom assignments, syllabi, production work, etc., which receive blind peer reviews.
o Exposition - With upwards of 130,000 square feet of exhibit space, the exposition is a vibrant, active marketplace of nearly 300 vendors for those seeking tools and services to expand and strengthen their ministries.
o News Media Center - NRB's media relations staff hosts a News Media Center which promotes member news and association events to visiting news outlets, including major secular networks and organizations.
• Research Symposium - At the NRB Research Symposium, you will hear documented research from leading researchers as they provide specific answers to commonly-held questions in Christian media. Instead of relying on anecdotal evidence, gut instincts, or a "we have always done it this way" mentality, the NRB Research Symposium will show you what works.
• Capitol Hill Media Summit - President's Council members are invited to attend the two-day Capitol Hill Media Summit held annually in the Washington, D.C. area. During this jam-packed event, you will gain an insider's perspective of our nation's capital from NRB's government relations team and from key elected and appointed officials within the halls of power.
Through these and other programs, NRB is here to provide you with the tools, the networking, and the educational opportunities so you can be fully prepared for service to Him!
