NRB has a full-time Government Relations office located directly on Capitol Hill. Our Government Relations vision is simple: we strive to influence the creation and action of favorable legislation in order to further the association’s goal of keeping the airwaves open for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Since the early days of the association, NRB has advocated on behalf of its members in Washington’s corridors of power. Many U.S. Presidents have given keynote addresses at our annual Convention & Exposition over the years, President Reagan being the most notable for attending almost every year that he was in office. Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush both gave keynotes, and President Jimmy Carter spoke at another NRB event. In addition, NRB has had long-standing relationships with Congress and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).
However, it wasn’t until January of 2006, under the oversight of our President & CEO Dr. Frank Wright, that NRB established its first full-time Government Relations Office on Capitol Hill. Today, NRB’s Vice President of Government Relations oversees advocacy, working in tandem with the General Counsel’s office, to protect and promote our cherished First Amendment rights – particularly the freedoms of speech and religion, and free religious expression. Our Government Relations Office continues to represent NRB members to the United States Congress (both the House and Senate), The White House, the Federal Communications Commission and other government agencies as the need arises. Our Government Relations office is also closely connected with other like-minded groups and influential individuals in Washington, D.C., in order to better represent NRB members and keep the doors of electronic media open for the spread of the Gospel.
