NRB is a nonpartisan, international association of Christian communicators whose member organizations represent millions of listeners, viewers, and readers. NRB’s mission is two-fold: To protect the free speech rights of our members to speak Biblical truth, by advocating those rights in governmental, corporate, and media sectors; and To foster excellence, integrity, and accountability in our membership by providing networking, educational, ministry, and relational opportunities.
By the grace of God, Christian radio, television, and internet broadcasters have an extraordinary impact on the world today, bringing the claims of Christ to people desperately in need of Truth.
Survey data reveals that 45 percent of people in America alone consume some form of Christian media (TV, radio, podcast, or books) at least sometimes. That figure is more than the percentage of people who attend church weekly or near-weekly.
Yet the remarkable impact of Christian broadcasting also must be viewed next to equally dramatic emerging threats to the rights and freedoms of Christian broadcasters. In this regard, there are many dark and ominous clouds on the horizon, and even at our door. The designation of historic Christian teaching as hate speech, the demand that religious entities hire unbelievers in key staff positions, and the threat to statutorily re-impose the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” are examples of significant contemporary threats to the interests and rights of Christian broadcasters.
Spiritual opposition to the proclamation of the Gospel is neither unexpected nor new. NRB is familiar with this battlefield and has fought since its beginning in 1944 to keep the doors of electronic media open for the spread of the Gospel.
And you will be a light to guide all nations to me. Isaiah 42:6 (NIV)
